It is a big, complex and heterogenous world of gender identities and sexual orientations, difficult to understand initially. Every time I feel that I have understood it till I meet another person and another "way" of looking at the issues!

Even among non-profits, there are so many misconcpetions, and in any case, it is a difficult area of work, also because of the strong societal reactions.Sunil Deepakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05781674474022699458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8346538939409399890.post-64831630666524416272013-06-30T19:37:21.015+02:002013-06-30T19:37:21.015+02:00I found this post very informative. There are these specializations in non profit work that limit you to your own sphere. I think the HIV/ AIDS projects in India suddenly threw the spotlight on sex workers and transgenders. But it was more to do with the fact that they were vulnerable to the infection and were often identified as carriers. But rarely do organizations in India actually work on the rights issues of transgenders. They are as you so rightly pointed out relegated to marginalized positions in society.
